Region’s first mass timber office building on track to finish this summer

The roof deck of the mass timber building nearing completion in Kirkland will have “immersive shade elements,” a “fern gully” and water feature.

That’s the east side of the two-story lakefront building that Bill Gates reportedly is developing next to Carillon Point, the swanky mixed-use development where Gates and project owner Mount Baker Holdings have offices. The west side will have “a signature green space” overlooking the million-dollar views of Lake Washington, according to LMN Architects.

The Seattle-based firm designed the Lakeview Office Building at 5500 Lakeview Drive. At just 46,000 square feet, it’s small but noteworthy as the first mass timber commercial development of this scale in the area, according to Pamela Trevithick, a partner at LMN.
