Mukilteo City Hall
Project Description
Construction of this 17,772 square foot structure included a cast-in-place concrete foundation with steel columns, pre-engineered wood trusses, wood/timber framing and metal roofing. The envelope consists of exposed wood glu-lams, stained cedar siding, composite slate panel siding and aluminum windows, exposed steel accents, perforated aluminum metal sunshades, and a garden roof.
The interior layout consists of a 2-1/2 story high “gallery” space at the lobby, leading to two floors of office space for city functions and Council Chambers where the City will hold town and/or executive meetings. Sitework involved demolishing and lowering 400 LF of Cyrus Way and installing street lighting adjacent to two sides of the building.
Sustainable features include a geo-thermal heating system which handles all of the facilities heating and cooling without the need for natural gas, a garden roof, a pervious concrete parking lot to minimize storm utilities, as well as daylight controls for lighting the facility.
