PC Blue Origin

The Blue Origin Research & Development facility in Kent took 11 months to construct. Built to serve 1,500 employees for the aerospace company, the 222,650 square foot tensioned fabric structure was manufactured and installed by Sprung Structures. Spaces in the building include 80,000 square feet of common space and conference rooms, 142,000 square feet of open office workstations, and a 10,235 square foot structural steel mezzanine which includes the main conference room and additional offices. The entry canopy consists of prefinished architectural cladding, 15 tons of steel, as well as four 18’ and two 13’ precast concrete panels. Cosmetic site features include a central landscaped courtyard, colored concrete, covered patio seating, and over 4,000 linear feet of ornamental and split-rail fencing. Sitework also included 14-acres of flood storage mitigation ponds totaling 52,000 cubic yards of flood compensation and an onsite storm drainage detention pond.
