Woodinville, WA

Children, parents, sports fans, and the community are invited to celebrate the grand opening of Woodinville’s newly-renovated Sports Field Complex on Saturday, May 22, from 10:30 AM – noon. Festivities include little league baseball games, the Mariner Moose, and the opportunity to recognize and thank the many state and county agencies, sports organizations, corporations, and individuals that made this project possible.

Built during the winter so that it would be available for use this spring, the Sports Field Complex features all-weather synthetic turf and field lights to allow for year-round day and evening play for a variety of youth and adult sport leagues and individual field users. The complex also features a fitness loop, offering walkers a well-lit and paved walking trail. Currently, eight sports leagues, including baseball, softball, soccer, and lacrosse, use the new fields each week.

The project was made possible by generous donations from area businesses and organizations, demonstrating both corporate and grassroots support for the project from the community and the greater Seattle area. Fundraising efforts were coordinated by and awarded through the Northwest Parks Foundation. The largest grants for the project include a nearly $1 million joint grant agreement with the Northshore Youth Soccer Association and King County, $375,000 in grants from the Recreation and Conservation Office of the State of Washington, a $75,000 Boeing Mariners Care Athletic Field Grant from The Boeing Company and the Seattle Mariners, and a $75,000 donation made jointly by the Craig and Kate MacKay Family Foundation and Woodinville Lumber. Additional contributions to the project included gifts from Sierra Construction, Starbucks, the Hirai Family, Olympic Nursery, Pacific Bag, Inc., Vibrant Plants, Inc., Network Technology Services, CH2M Hill, Vic’s Insurance, Brittany Park Retirement Community, Quality Care Physical Therapy, Inc., MagicHour Films, Costco #747, and Mead Gilman & Associates. Additionally, hundreds of local families and individuals contributed to the project.

The Woodinville Sports Field Complex is located at the intersection of 131st Ave NE and 175th Ave NE in Woodinville, accessible from the 131st Avenue NE exit from State Highway 522. Parking for the Grand Opening Celebration is available at the Civic Center complex just off of 131st Avenue and adjacent to the Sports Field.
