"We had planned a whale watching trip on the weekend right before her birthday on Whidbey Island / Anacortes. We stayed at a little B&B and the first morning I suggested a walk out to Ebey’s Landing on the west coast of the island (which I had never been to before, it was recommended by a family friend). Once we got to what I assumed was the main lookout point from my extensive google image searching, I waited until there was nobody around and proposed. I had some sort of speech half-prepared, but I was jumbling it about two sentences in so I just dropped to a knee and hoped she’d be too overwhelmed to notice. She said yes."
