Final Completion - BP I5 Roadwork

4-2025 Heeringa

"Relieved to announce that we achieved final completion of the Roadwork at BP I5 Phase 1. Following nearly 2 years of permitting hell with Pierce County Sewer we were able to complete the remaining work of re-configuring a lift station to fit to our new roadway.

Widening 1.2 miles of roadway for a development that a neighborhood opposed did not come without its challenges. We had conflicts with nearly all utilities we installed, re-designing as we went. We had grade issues at driveways that required coming to agreements with homeowners to re-shape their access to the right-of-way. Upon discovering peat through a low section of the roadway we provided design assistance to come up with a massive pin pile/preload scope and temporarily re-route hundreds of feet of sewer force main to complete our work and support our fish culvert on pin piles. This also required coordinating a 3-month shutdown of a city arterial which involved numerous council presentations and neighbor notifications.

All of this seemed insurmountable at times, and we could not have done this job without Bob. He befriended nearly every neighbor on 5th Ave, including the ones who we had to greet with a police presence after threatening our crews. He showed a metric shit load of perseverance to keep pushing the job forward through many “Mondays” and handled every challenge with grace and a positive attitude that never wavered. They don’t build’em like that anymore!"
